The Barthold Family Foundation funds six scholarships at a community college located in Redwood City, California. The following a list and description of the scholarships we currently fund:
Christine Ryland Scholarship
This annual award recognizes an incoming, continuing or transferring Cañada student who perseveres in spite of challenges and maintains a positive outlook. Recipient demonstrates commitment to achieving a college education. Award made with recommendation from Disability Resource Center staff.
Connie Barthold Scholarship
This scholarship is for a new or continuing Cañada student who shows academic potential, demonstrates commitment to the community through community service, philanthropic endeavors and/or efforts with underprivileged populations and demonstrates financial need.
Ed Barthold Scholarship
This scholarship is for a new or continuing Canada student of academic merit with a minimum GPA of 3.0 majoring in nursing, medical sciences, or biology-related sciences.
F.L. Griffin Scholarship
This scholarship is for one immigrant Cañada student with a 3.0 GPA or higher and financial need, living in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County; preference should be given to continuing students at Cañada.
Laura Hill Griffin Scholarship
This Cañada scholarship is for a re-entry student who is a parent with a 3.0 GPA and financial need living in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County; preference should be given to continuing students at Cañada.
Robert Stiff Scholarship
In honor of Robert “Bob” Stiff, President-Emeritus of Cañada College, this scholarship s awarded this year to students who have shown a commitment to the betterment of Cañada College. Students demonstrate financial and academic merit.
